During the Agafay Desert tour you will discover an incredible Sahara, located just 30 kilometers southwest of Marrakech, between Lalla Takerkoust Lake in the east, the high mountains of the High Atlas and along with the road to the Western Guemassa mine, explore the virgin nature of a desert and remains. Area on a perfect day trip from Marrakech if you don’t have time to visit the Sahara Desert during your holidays in Morocco.
Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy the tranquility of the desert and countryside with this day trip to Lake Takerkoust and Agafay Desert. They will pick you up from your accommodation at 9am and take you to the west of Marrakech. The route is shaded by lush vegetation, olive and orange groves and passes through the occasional village of Ait Imour from where we will leave the road and drive through a completely different landscape of stone desert, light brown and arid plateaus, Bedouins, oases and then high hills with panoramic views of the High Atlas. A few hours later small patches of green will begin to appear and not long after you will be back on the paved road bordered by the old eucalyptus. It will reach the edge of the Lalla Takerkoust lake, built as a dam from which Marrakech receives its electricity. Through small hills along the dam you will reach the Nfis valley passing through Berber villages and arriving at a Berber family house. You can visit the house and have lunch inside. After lunch, you will have the chance to walk for 2 hours with Saida or Hamid (not included in the price) and climb for an hour to visit one of the oldest villages at the foot of the largest forest in the Atlas Mountains. After the visit of the traditional oil mill, you will descend through olive trees and terraced fields to the only house near the river Nfis from where your journey will continue to Ouiragan through the forest, traditional salt pools before arriving in Asni, a small town (market on Saturday) overlooking Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa. Then you will cross the Moulay Brahim gorges, the Ghighaya valley and Tahanouete before arriving in Marrakech.
There are several ways to visit the Agafay desert: Taking a taxi from Marrakech is the fastest option for a free visit to this area. From Marrakech, you will have no trouble finding a taxi that can take you to Agafay.

The Agafay Desert can be discovered all year round, but in midsummer the heat is often quite difficult to bear. The best time to visit the Agay desert is from January to May and from September to December.
