VIVI IL MAROCCO DA YOGI

MOROCCAN Sahara Yoga Retreats

We combine the magic of Moroccan culture, cuisine, landscapes and hospitality with high quality yoga equipment and props as well as perfect everyday environments for practices that will leave your students grounded, centered and balanced as they explore this country magical.

Jade & Adil are uniquely qualified to organize and host Moroccan yoga retreats, as Jade is a professional yoga instructor and yoga school owner, and Adil is a national guide from Morocco and originally from the Sahara region.

If you’re a yoga teacher or studio owner looking for a seamless retreat program that allows space for discovery as much as practice, look no further.

THE JOURNEY IN BRIEF

Retrace the historical path of the Trans-Saharan trade route while keeping your yoga practice alive and well on this magical Moroccan adventure! Our 8 days / 8 nights trip starts in Marrakech and moves into the valley of the Agdz Palm Oasis, nestled at the base of the Atlas Mountains, which we cross on the first day of the road trip. We continue moving south for a 2-night glamping experience in the Moroccan Sahara, including camel trekking, a taste of tribal music and textiles, and exploration of ancient kasbahs. On our way back to Marrakech, we will spend one night in the Berber city of Ouarzazate, where you will have some free time to take a dip in the pool and sunbathe on the panoramic terrace. Spend your last three nights in Marrakech exploring life in the Moroccan medina, complete with a tour of the infamous textile markets! On a free day, explore a list of add-on options that offer the luxury of a Moroccan hammam (spa) experience, or visit more sights.

INCLUDED ACTIVITIES, MEALS & MORE

Trip includes round trip airport transfers, 8 days and nights in room/shared bathroom in all accommodations (2 pax per room); 3 meals a day, plus some snacks and Moroccan mint tea breaks and a picnic lunch in the Sahara dunes; Marrakech medina and souk tour, sunset camel ride, visit to a local women’s weaving cooperative; transportation by 4×4 Toyota SUV with professional drivers and a full-time English-speaking guide; daily yoga practices with all props and yoga mats included. We provide potable water, but please bring your own reusable water bottle to avoid single use plastic.

OUR PROMISE TO YOUR STUDENTS

We have an experienced yoga instructor as one of the founding members of our team, so we know what’s important on yoga retreats and how to make time for it despite a busy itinerary of exploring a new country. We promise to provide the best venues for daily practices and to provide the best quality yoga equipment we can source. Our mats are MandukaPro yoga mats, made to survive many trips to the Sahara and back. Blocks, straps, blankets and bolsters are also available upon request so that all levels and styles of yoga can be taught. To create a complete environment for your lessons, we will provide you with a portable Bluetooth speaker (if you prefer to use music when teaching), incense and candles and anything else you need or want can most likely be arranged to make your retreat special . Some practices take place on rooftops with panoramic views, others on the sand on hand-woven Moroccan carpets, but each location is chosen with care and consideration to provide the most magical experience for a heart-opening practice.

OUR ACCOMMODATIONS

All of our accommodation is shared rooms with private bathrooms, with the exception of the Sahara camps, which are shared tents in permanent structures with real beds and shared bathrooms for the whole camp (Western toilets and private showers are available for use at at any time). We offer two types of room situation: 2 single beds for 2 people, or 1 double bed for 1/2 people. We can occasionally arrange a triple room for groups of 3 traveling together. Those who request a single room can do so by paying a supplement.

Country Villa: Your first stop in Morocco and accommodation upon return to Marrakech. We believe the best place to start is a place where you can relax and get right with nature. A short drive from the airport and the perfect place for a meet and greet and a home cooked Moroccan dinner. After a trip to the Sahara, we return to the foothills of the Atlas Mountains just outside Marrakech to retreat back to the countryside, with organized day trips into the city to experience the buzzing energy of a city that has been a mystical trading post for thousands of years.

Kasbahs – these are ancient castle ruins, built of red clay bricks, which have been beautifully restored into modern castles. This is your first real experience at Southern Hospitality, so live like a Raja for a short while!

Sahara Camps: Our camps are family owned and follow tribal guidelines to preserve the Saharan culture and community. We have two camp options, depending on your level of retreat luxury. You can see more about our courses here and here.
